Joe and I went out for a little while to a cellar hole we've been at before, we were up to 9 assorted coppers including a nice Fugio. The wind was blasting at 40 mph, kept away from the big trees but still it was freaky up on the hillside. Found two more coppers today, and going slow along the edges in-between nails I found what I think is my first GW button:

Found this one on one of the collector sites:

Not quite the same but I think it's in the ballpark. I figured you guys would know. Shank is perfect, kind of afraid to touch it to see if there's any writing on the back. Looks like it had some gold gilt at one time.

Here are the other two coppers I found:

Whenever a George Washington button gets found and it’s an extremely rare type it’s gonna fly that banner, congrats!

yes. that is awesome. first one of that variant I've ever seen posted here

Absolutely beautiful button! Amazing!

That is a magnificent find. A button that rare deserves to be riding up top. My banner vote is in. Stay safe and keep swingin.

Awesome button
Congrats

Wow, thank you all for the comments and votes, I'm very grateful and proud to have found this button. Still need to find out more about it but my fingers are crossed that it's the real thing! Steve

Update: I reached out to Heritage and Stacks just to see if there was any interest in the button, both of them want to feature in their upcoming Americana auctions. The guy from Heritage I spoke to says he has no doubt it is authentic, and could fetch 5K. Not sure what I want to do, have you guys ever sold anything on those auction sites? Heritage charges 20%, Stacks only 5%, how come the huge difference?

Wow, what a rush it must've been to recover this beautiful button. :occasion14:
I don't know whether you've already posted it, but what does the back look like?

I'm submitting my BANNER vote right now.
Dave

PS. Just saw your pic of the back.

Wow, thanks Dave! It was rush to find it, never ever thought I'd see one. I want to save it, but with a son in college I can't help thinking we could use the money. But then again I know I'll probably regret it

Awesome Save!!! Congrats

This should be on top. Banner nomination.
