Monday night I went back to the 1700's church site I was given permission to hunt hoping to find something nice. I hunted the lawn until the sun set and didn't come up with much. Luckily I had my head lamp with me and at that point I went to the field next to the church and tried for civil war era relics. After an hour in the field with little success I decided to head back to the car. While swinging the coil on the way back to the car, I stumbled upon this 12-10 signal with the E-trac. Dug down three inches or so and out popped a ring. I didn't give it a good exam until I got home. When I put it under the faucet a clump of mud fell off the top to reveal the three stones below. Then I found the 10k stamp on the inside of the ring! My First Gold!!! I took the ring to Zales the next day to test the stones and to my surprise they were genuine. They were selling a very similar ring in the store for $599. Not a bad find for my first gold ring!
The second photo is after I got it cleaned up.
Good luck to everyone and as always, Happy Hunting!!!
