Hi all I got out with some friends today to an old foundation site.I have hunted this site before in the spring and summer but never in the winter.During the warmer weather the grass is to thick to really search effectively.....so there is one good thing about the snow.I wasn't there long when I found an old spoon.....little further I got a crusty large cent.......then about 10 feet away in a real swampy area I got a weak signal and dug an awesome 1837 seated 1/2 dime....missed the capped bust by one year ! This is my first ever 1/2 dime find and my oldest US silver yet. ;D

:D :D ;D I'll make up for it later with a few draped bust I'm sure....out of 40 large coppers last year the majority of them were draped bust. ;D

Yeah buddy! That is a HECK of a coin! :headbang:

I vote Banner, there was only 1,405,000 minted between large and small dates combined!!! In my 2006 Red book it has 1837 half cent for EF $200 & AU $450!!!
it's more like 300-400 EF now

Dang nice one! Did it give a silver tone at all?

Nice! Still on my want list!
Baggins

Thanks y'all.

Actualy it gave the same signal as a penny and registered on the smart screen on my explorer xs the same as a penny.

Beauty!
I'm still waiting for my first seated but I gotta feeling that this is the year.
