My first Merc!

Today I found my first merc and my oldest coin. It is a 1918 and pretty worn. I found it right in front of my grandmas old house that was built in the 1930's. It was only about 2" in the ground and I was very surprised to find where I did. It was in the front yard with a lot of newer coins. My dad always told me there was probably silver there and I'm glad he was right. I didn't get to detect long so I'm going to go back sometime this week and hopefully I find more!

nice work on that merc, I spent some time around Boone at Penland years ago. I always thought that Penland could be a cool place to detect, would be trashy but theres decent history there. have you ever checked it out?

No I have not, but it seems very interesting. Me and dad might go check that out.
