Found this in a guy`s crawl space i was doing some work for.
He said it had been in the family since the early 50`s.
Couldn`t believe it was sitting in the dirt. (BOUGHT IT)
Only thing i see wrong with it is the weather stripping.

Any one know what it might be worth and it`s age?

Haven`t found one on-line like it.

Thank`s in advance and happy hunting. :laughing7:

The "Things go better with Coke" slogan was used 1963-1966....but close enough to the 50s....it was quite a while ago.
I too have not seen one just like that. Similiar condition and era coke coolers I have seen SELL have run from $150 to $300.

Thanks Brad

Hopefully there`s someone out there and they have seen one exactly like it.

That's a nice cooler in good original condition. Here is an identical one (with a broken latch) that sold for $70 on Apr 27th, 2007 in
New Braunfels, TX by the Burley Auction Group. However, nowadays I would think that it would fetch between $100-$200 or more depending on how (ie-auction, craigslist, antique show, ebay etc.) it was sold. I like the bottle opener on the side!

Bummer someone sat on that one also :icon_scratch:

Thanks diggummup

Local auction house wants 50% of the sale :'( Consignment shops are almost as bad.
And they`ve never seen it.

My parents had one of those, used it to carry our lunch when we would drive down to Tenn to visit Grandpa. Ah those ice cold egg salad sandwiches on a hot day at a picnic area, no highways (69 or 65 weren't built yet). Still remember the route, 66 south to 9 south to 31e to 31w, two lane roads only, we would leave the house at first light and get there just before dark, now I can drive it in about 6-7 hours...
Yep mid to late 50's very early 60's is about right on the date.
:icon_thumleft:Still have it stored in the top of the shop minus the scratches... along with two of those old big round metal Coke signs... :icon_thumright:

Anything that deals with Coke has a HUGE collectors base. Your cooler appears to be in far better shape than some I have seen go for $300 - $400 dollars. I would guesstimate that you are looking closer to $500 then $400.

Great Find... :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft:

I missed one this weekend by about 3 minutes at a yard sale. It was an older 50's model and in great shape. The guy got it for $60. This guy is my competition at yard sales. The sale started at 7am , the people said he was there at 6am waiting. Personally I would have charged him double for showing up an hour early.
