I'm somewhat new to metal detecting. I bought a Fisher F2 a few years ago and have used it here and there mostly just messing around on the beach looking for rings or change with my father. The hobby started to grow on me and I really enjoyed being able to spend the time with my him so I went out and bought a AT Pro and gave him my F2. My second time out with the AT Pro I went to an old farm field that is a friend of the family's and I couldn't believe what I found. I can still hear that beautiful tone. I pulled out what looked to be a quarter but I immediately knew it was copper. After I brushed the clump off I was staring at the most beautiful large cent I have ever seen dug. The detail was incredible. Needless to say I have been hooked ever since.

Nice large cent. First year of the matron head design and a looker.

Congrats, she's a beauty. I can see your still stoked. Enjoy the high.

Beautiful coin!!! Congratulation! :occasion14:

Wow! Love those LCs

That's a stunner of a copper. Awesome.

Wow, thats a blazer of a Large Cent. That beauty must have been in some real nice dirt.

Appears to be a common variety Newcomb 2 1816 Large Cent - Newcomb 2 The bold denticles on the Obverse are key and the I being lower than the N of UNITED is the key to the reverse ID. Hope I am correct.....

A Beautiful Coin Indeed....CONGRATZ!!!!

I found an 1809. It was not in the great shape that yours is amazing! Great find!!

Great looking coin! Haven't had chance to look, but if Don says N-2 I'm with him.

Please double check if you wish, I have no guarantee from myself I am correct, some of these are hard, so little differences and not as familiar with attributing the Coronet types, some years are so close to each other in details.... Just a camera angle or one piece of dirt/corrosion at the wrong spot can make it harder to attribute.............:) Don

Nice detail, ive found several, but none have detail like that, nice find.
