So we've been out and about between
snow storms
hunting those places that have a very small window of opportunity to hunt. We've hunted them for the past several years but a keeper or two here and there keeps us going back. I had found a pocket full of lead, but nothing special to write home about. Just before leaving for the day, I dig this bullet that looks different. Seems I've seen this kind before, but I've never dug one. I get home and email Brad and the gang and sure enough, it's a keeper!!

Next thing ya know, I've got a present in my mail and it's from our sweet WSDaddy! He says in honour of my first Sharps carbine I deserved a reward.
Just gotta love him.
You know you spoil me.
Here's a few relics from a couple of other hunts....

Yesterday we headed for a new site that we've been waiting on. Charlie kindly puts in the cords for the GPS for us and off we go. We get to the site, turn on the GPS and head up the old dirt road. I keep looking at it and wondering why it keeps telling me we're there...already. I told Lisa that I must have given him the wrong numbers, so we keep going. Woods on one side and a corn field on the other. Get to the top of the hill, check again, and again it's telling me to go back. We decided to forget the GPS stuff and just go it on our own. We make our way through briars and vines for several hours, only to come up with nothing.
Meeting back up, I tell her lets follow these directions and just see where it takes us.

So we hop back into the woods and watch the meter to see which way to go and how close we are. I tell Lisa we're getting mighty close and sure enough the iron started showing up. Not an easy place to hunt, but we've found it! Half the fun is just finding the site you knew was there, huh?
Spent another hour or so finding very little other than iron stove parts etc. I get to the edge of the woods and tell Lisa I see another corn field. Lots of corn fields around here apparently.
Go back to hunting and Lisa says she's going out to follow the road beside the cornfield and try to find the jackets we left behind earlier in the hunt. I hear her hollering, "Hey, this is the same road we came up on.".
We had made a giant circle right back to where we started from but didn't know it till the day was over. Now who wants to go huntin' with Nana?
We always have a great time tho...and todays lesson: Just follow the arrow on the GPS anyhow. ...oh..and erase the trail I left on the GPS so's Charlie won't see it and have a good laugh.

Here's the meager finds from that hunt. It may deserve one more day.
I found a tiny little wedding band and it has something stamped on the inside, but I can't read it. Also found another something that I thought was a ring till I cleaned some of the dirt off. Now I'm not sure what it is?
Also found some sort of a pin...
Oh...a few of us met up for dinner this past Saturday to discuss a club for this area. We had a lot of fun talking huntin' over dinner. We met up for a hunt Sunday. Didn't find too much....a wheat and a lead seal with L&N RR on it.....but had a great time!!
