coooooool  I like those things

That one is in great shape...usually the aluminum ones come up way worse.
13 states used these, the history is interesting.
The public hated them, the retailers hated them, all were made only because states thought it was a big deal for someone to get screwed out of a fraction of a cent in sales tax.
Can you imagine anyone being concerned about that today?

I tell you who does love them...us detectorists that find them.

CongratZ!

I was living in south Utah and got a permission on a home from the late 1800's. I ended up digging over 30 Utah tax tokens. Gave them to a third grade teacher to share with the kids.

yep ! Mine was from Mississippi & looks like something was chewing on it.
But it's still one of my favorite finds

The same way my Alabama Tax Token found its way to Illinois - in someones pocket ! Nice find. I have found 4 Oklahoma Tax Tokens, but they were all found in Oklahoma.

I love finding tax tokens, I have 3 from Missouri but none from anywhere else.
In my opinion they are just as valuable as any out dated coin considering they were only minted for use in one state.
Congrats on a great find.

Sweet find I have two Louisiana tax tokens!!
