What's new

My first time finds. A bunch of trash and a cool toy motorcycle. I couldn't be happier. Can't wait to get out tomorrow.

Second hunt, you all were right, found my first 2 coins. The penny is a 1982, the Quarter is a 1989 crossing the Delaware P mint mark. Feels light and is the color of a penny, could this be one of the coins stamped on the wrong planchet? Could I be that lucky ? When I first dug it I had visions of a Reale or a half scent. Very exciting in my own mind, o could get used to this.

It can't be a penny planchet or it would be only the size of a penny.

Yes and it's not even a valley forge it's a New Jersy 1999 turning point. The penny is a 1982 and it weighs 3.1 g so at least it's copper. I. Having a blast.

A big congrats on your first finds and continued good luck this season ! :icon_thumleft:

Thanks, I did my homework, but still, quite a learning curve. Not as easy as it looks, but a lot of fun!
The learning cure in this hobby never ends.
But that's what keeps it interesting - the longer you do it - the better it gets !

Rmagyar21 welcome to fine forum. Glad to see your posts. You got a few good finds. Hope you stay around :)

I believe that reddish brown coating on coins comes from iron in the soil. I think you'll find dimes, nickels, and quarters from the modern era will look the same way after they've been in the ground a while. Good deal, you're now finding coins! Soon you'll be finding car keys, hot wheels, and jewelry.
