...... Indian Head Penny :headbang:
I was CRH'ing a box of pennies last night (my 10th box I've searched) and found my first Indian Head. Looking at the Wreath on the reverse, it took a second to register exactly what I had found (the Rum may have slowed me down a lttile, also ::) )Boy, was I excited. It's funny how a grown man can get so excited over finding a coin worth maybe 10 cents. My Wife just rolled her eyes :laughing7:
Anyway, it's an 1887, I think, the second 8 is hard to make out. I would love to post a pic but I'm not real computer savvy.
What's a good way to clean the penny to be able to read the date better?

Thanks for reading and HH,
Legend

AWESOME!!! Congratulations - Been hunting pennies since '04 and haven't found an IH yet!

Congrats on your 1st Indian. What is on the coin that it needs to be cleaned?

Not really sure what it is, but it's kinda obscuring the date. I know the coin isn't real valuable, but I don't wanna put something on it that will ruin it.

Awesome..I would love to find one of those...Do you have a pic?

I'll take one with my cell phone and have it on email if you guys can PM me how to post

Nice find.. I haven't found one in over a year. I found one the first month of searching pennies and haven't found any since. Indian Head are worth close to a $1.00 if it's in good condition if that make you feel better about the find. It's highly addicting hobby. I got to the bank too late today and couldn't get a box. There is tommorrow.

Here it is:

Re: My first....... Pic ADDED

Now if I could only take a good pic with my digital camera and figure out how to get it to the computer

Someone gave me this suggestion. Heat up a little hydrogen peroxide(don't boil it) and soak the coin in it for a few minutes. Remove the coin and dab it with cotton swabs. You should see the dirt come off on the swab. Then rinse it with clean distilled water. Just don't overclean it.

Posted my first pic on TNet, and no one commented about how pretty it was :tongue3: lol
