This is a funny story. I had a metal detector that I wasn't using anymore, a Whites Classic 1 SL. Anyway, a buddy at work had been talking to me about buying my Whites, so one day we finally ironed out the details. On the appointed day, I had brought my MD equipment to work. I was going to stop by my buddies house on the way home, sell him the Whites and show him how to use it. I had to pick my daughter from school up early, so I couldn't stay at my friends house long. My friend lives in a small town that has tons of metal detecting potential, so I knew that even a short hunt could be good. I got to his house, gave him the MD, then we went to an old building next to his house the has been a bar, hardware store, grocery store, and a residence. My time was running out, but I had my Tejon in my hand, I just couldn't resist. We went over to the old in-ground cellar door at the back of the building. My friend turned on his detector, I set the disc right above iron, he swung twice, and got a signal. I checked it and told him that it was good. He went and got a garden trowel, and out popped a Army officers "U.S." lapel pin. My jaw hit the ground. I told him that was pretty darn good for the first swing of a metal detector. I told him I had to go, and I don't have to tell you how much will power it took for me to leave. My friend told me that he was going to go across the street and check a site that used to be a ice skating rink, and that he would call me if he found anything. Once again, I had to use what little will power I had left, to put my metal detector in my trunk and leave. Two, minutes down the road, my friend calls me.....he found two Eisenhower dollars in the first minute about a foot apart. Not bad tally for the first half hour of owning your first metal detector. The silver lining for me, I have permission to go back to those sites whenever I want, and he got permission for me to hunt the old Catholic church that his in-laws own.

That old church may be a honey hole.
