Dug this out of the wet sand and thought I might croak! Couldn't wait to get it home and find the big 14K! After cleaning it up and spending about 30 min. looking for some kind of gold mark, I gave up. What a disappointment.... Sure was pretty though!

Re: My heart was pounding!--update

Ok, I took it to a jewelry store and they were pretty snooty. They said it was not gold and even though the stones had no scratches, they felt sure they were fake. The guy took it to the back and came back in a flash saying they weren't real. I am not really sure he even tested them. I will take them to my next group meeting in January and test them there. Needless to say, I won't be buying any jewelry from that store! Thanks for all of the interest!

Im guessing he probably thought they could be real and was betting on you giving up the fake ring for little or nothing. Go to someone reputable.

Baylor,

NEVER EVER let a ring in question out of your sight at a store !!
If the stones are real they can swap the stones for glass in seconds.

It May be unmarked because it is an antique ---

Get itt checked by a Pro ok. don't jump at the first offer either ok. PEACE:RONB

Setting looks too good to me. What I mean is that the setting looks like what I see on real diamonds. It's true, with a diamond tester, it can just take a few seconds to test. And I also would never let a ring out of my site - ever.

A good jeweler should be willing and helpful, not snooty and condescending. Also, if the ring is older, it can be unmarked. And, as someone else noted, if it has been refitted.

Best of luck!

Excellent find.. I hope it turns out the way you like.... Still a great find by any measure. :icon_thumleft:
