my mxt and the beach

i bought a mxt (new) and have taken it to the beach a few times..i have been told you can put it in water as long as you keep the electronics away from the water..well i did this for the first time and only had the head down about 2-3 inches in the water and kept getting the overload on the readout...i had the gain on preset mark 9 1/2, dual control on 3 threshold on enough to hear tone, toggles were on coin/jewelry and on salt....

is it going to overload everytime i put it in the saltwater like that or is there something i can try to see if i can eliminate the overload.

i would like to try and see if i can find anything in shallow water but havent been able to so if you have some advise besides keep it out of the water it would be appreciated..

Have you tried it in the shallow water at another location? I suspect it is also picking up black sand. This would cause the overload too. Turn down the sensitivity too and back off the gain.

For saltwater you should really use a true beach water detector or a PI.
