Prospecting
So today I went out with the sole purpose of finding a new digsite..And I think I found a great area.I figured since I have nothing better to do I would give you all a day by day video of the site..Hopefully the site will prove half ass respectable..I found it late this afternoon and spent one hour sampling the area.Tomorrow I am hiking out the backpack sluice and some buckets and intend to move some earth...Pretty much all you get is a visual presentation..We will see how this goes!! Anyway I will post every night or early the following morning..I hope everyone is enjoying good prospects>>

Outstanding MadMarshall.

You have great musical taste. Like me! Norman Blake ,Bluegrass, classic jazz/blues.

Another awesome video! Thanks MM!

Man I'd love a pan of gold like that! Thanks MM. Always a pleasure watching your vids.

That was one good looking pan. I'm sure glad you post those videos MM. I've been taking notes and hope to use some of that knowledge next time I'm up at NFAR. I'm thinking another trip to Euchre bar is in order. I'll head upriver this time though.

Here is day 1 of the dig... It seems to be allot of dust and a few decent pickers..The bucket has concentrates from 2 clean outs...And the pans are what we sucked off the black mat...The Humming Bird I found on the side of the river in a puddle...My brother and I drove his little butt to the Bird Rescue in Loomis and the prick passed away minutes from the door..(he survived the mile and half walk and a half hour drive!!Figures) They asked to keep is body to train vollunteers on how to bandage wounds on small birds..I will do my best to make more time tonight to better explain what I am up too!!!

Another great ride along MM. Don't you just love it when a new spot "pans" out?:laughing7: Great gold to find right off the bat. BTW did you get my PM?

Well it was a soft day at the river..Every so often it would drizzle a little bit, just enough to make everything slippery..But all in all a good day..I continued most my efforts digging under the big boulder..And the gold stayed pretty consistant which is always nice...I think I will move about 20 feet upriver to the begining of my gravel.I need a change of scenery..And all the dirt has to go..And seems for the moment plenty of decent dirt..The majority of the gold is dust but on occasion a nice big flat flake appears. Always nice to see.. Anyway I wish you all happy hunting..

Weird you mention that, I was at a job in Tahoe and me and a friend found a hummingbird laying there but alive, we mixed sugar and water and used a coffee stirrer to drip it into its mouth and it worked! It made a sudden comeback and flew off.

First I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to comment and all the positive feedback..I really do appreciate it..Well today I went upriver just a bit, to the start of what I considered payable dirt..I can't say I got any real big pickers or flakes but other then that it was another decent day for gold..To be honest I really hate digging this stuff..Don't get me wrong who am I to complain but I can't help think that some where just around the next bend or up a little higher the gold will be better..Boy do I love prospecting...Oh well bill's have to get paid so I am guessing I will stay put. The water dropping low.. I no longer have a good swimming hole which kinda sucks but oh well..but all in all good times on the NF American..

Man, I cant even fathom finding that amount of gold...I think I need to move! Very, very nice! Thanks for bringing us on your adventure with you.

Seriously MM, you're kicking ass out there. Videos are well put together and you show just the right kind of scenes. Would like to see more of you digging, or how you pick your spots, etc, but I'm totally happy with what you give us. Some of the best prospecting videos out.

The vids had me drooling. Great location!

GG~

I am sorry I missed yesterday...Yesterday at the dig site was just O.K..Still averaged a decent wage, But truth is so much dirt and it ain't goin nowhere..I might come back to it if I have too.As it turns out it was the the right move!! We headed back to Steven's Trail to an area we had done very well but water seepage thru the mountain and bedrock made the area difficult to work..So we tagged the easy and left the rest for today..The only thing is we never made it..After we made it to our crossing area we took the usual break and smoked its a long dam walk..But today for some reason neither of us really wanted to do any swimming untill the sun showed..So we just figured we break some rocks for an hour or so and then cross..It didn't take long for us to realize it was goin to be a beautiful day for gold!!My brother found this crack early and I would attribute at least 3 grams of our days take from it.And the surrounding area has proven well worth a couple whacks with the hammer..We never did cross the river, it was a pretty good day..Well sorry again I missed yesterday but I was really tired and slept after I got home.. We our headed back to the area tomorrow. Oh yea I guess BLM came down today and told all the campers to move their tent's to the other side of the river off the Trail and "Common Area"..Personally I have no problem walking thru some one's campsite at 6 in the morning if they choose to set up camp on the trail..All nice guys though..Oh sorry about the song edits..

Absolutely no need to apologize. What you're doing is quality gold prospecting. We don't pay you enough to worry you. That being said, I would miss any post you got:thumbsup: I just hope to catch up with you someday:notworthy:

We'll give you a pass for missing yesterday lol. Nice looking gold!

Marshall loves the adventure of prospecting/sniping, but notice that he's probably the fastest panner most of you have seen. He went from a 1/4 pan of dirt/rocks to snuffing in less than 2 minutes. Try it yourself - see how long it takes you. At the end shot, i'm guessing he dumped the goodies out of the snuffer
bottle to show us what 10-15 pans had accumulated - probably in the same time it takes us to do one 1/2 of a pan. (and no safety pan!)
