Detector(s) used
MINELAB EXPLORER SE-- B.H LEGACY 3300 WITH 11 INCH DD COIL
GOT OUT FOR AN HOUR THIS AFTERNOON WITH MY DETECTING PARTNER TO A LOCAL PARK. FIRST HALF HOUR YIELDED JUNK. THEN A DECENT BEEP FROM MY DETECTOR. PROBABLY JUNK. NOT THIS TIME. I DUG UP AN 1874 ONE CENT PIECE INDIAN HEAD. I WAS EXCITED TO SAY THE LEAST. ABOUT TWO MINUTES LATER MY BUDDY PULLS A BUTTON OUT OF HIS HOLE. NOT SURE WHAT IT IS THOUGH. THINKING MAYBE NAVY OR SOME MILITARY BUTTON. WE ALSO FOUND A SPOON WITH A NAME ENGRAVED THAT WE CANNOT MAKE OUT. WE FOUND A SMALL ROUND SAUCER TYPE COPPER THING THAT SAYS "THE CROWN" ON THE UNDERSIDE. NOT SURE WHAT THIS IS EITHER. WE ALSO FOUND SOME WHEATIES NOT SHOWN IN PICS.

I think DKW`s id is right with the notion of a British button.

just hopeful someone will see your post and help me with my button ID,

I think I answered too quickly. After studying your picture a little more I'm thinking it might be this one. Note the size of the crown and the way the rope winds around the anchor. In use from 1901-1952.

Excellent ID on the Royal Navy Button! Anytime there are IH's in the mix it's a good hunt.

I agree, British Naval Button. I would have dated it post WWI - WWII.

Great finds! The saucer thing may be just that--something from an old child's tea set. Or if you find something on the hallmark "The Crown", maybe it's something 'north of that'.
