My oldest US silver

Had a welcome surprise of another Tnet member stopping by to detect in Baltimore County.

Many acres we shared with meanderings looking for relics.

Gary came away with a hemweight, flat button, brass D buckle, musketball, drawer pull, and a '54 rosie as keepers.

I had a surprise find: my first silver from this site and it turned out to be seated, an 1838 dime!

Did manage to dig some pistol balls, but not a button today; they eluded me.

Certainly great to share the afternoon with a fellow Tnetter!

It truly was a great experience for me!
I haven't been able to share a hunt in such a long time!
I don't really understand why though. Maybe it's because most don't know that I bring along that sort of luck?
Always try to give my host at least one good memory of the great and powerful WHADIFIND!

(...it's a good thing he didn't turn on the camera any sooner, he might have caught my hand pulling away! )

I love your creative display of the finds!

If I had my way, a seated dime, that old and in such immaculate condition, would be a banner find and up top!
It'll at least get one vote!

BTB, let me know if you've tested that pinpointer trick yet.

Wow! The condition of that dime! What a strong strike too, great detail in head and hair! She was freshly dropped so that really helps to suggest that site is early! Congrats of some nice finds and camaraderie.

Yes, I thought about that last night and again today when I got back to the hilltop for 2 hours (3:30-5:30PM). Brrrr!!!!

Thx for "weighing in", TMH! A very significant find for me; actually the first seated coin I've found in Baltimore County.

Thanks Mark! Yes, I was over-zealous in the video, suggesting mint to farm to ground sequence, all occurring in 1838. I think it is likely that the coin was dropped in the first half of the 19th century.
