Had a welcome surprise of another Tnet member stopping by to detect in Baltimore County.

Many acres we shared with meanderings looking for relics.

Gary came away with a hemweight, flat button, brass D buckle, musketball, drawer pull, and a '54 rosie as keepers.

I had a surprise find: my first silver from this site and it turned out to be seated, an 1838 dime!

Did manage to dig some pistol balls, but not a button today; they eluded me.

Certainly great to share the afternoon with a fellow Tnetter!

Thx JerseyDigger19! The NEL Tornado coil on my F75 was purchased from "The Gold Digger" shop in Raritan.

Thanks Lilo! It was, as you said, an awesome surprise to see silver and then see that it was seated. That must have been how you felt when you revealed the date on your Indian.

Whadi did say he's a coinshooter, that he is a tennis player and former marathoner, and he has found "old silver". He was present when I found my oldest U.S. silver.

Thx VTColonialDigger! Looks like your 2017 is off to a good start, too!

Thx Silvermonkey! Marathon hunt for two former marathoners.

Ummmm....you didn't mention you did marathons too! Were you that guy I passed on Satyr Hill? Sitting on the side
sipping on a beer? ;)

That is one fresh looking seated! Congrats on that recovery.

Great piece of history, awesome condition.. WTG!! :occasion14:

Wow! what a beautiful dime!!!

Thx Gary! If it had been an "O" mint, I'd be in total agreement.

The intrinsic value of a find should not be the determining factor. How many 1838 seated liberty, (small stars) dimes have you ever heard about being found? Then, add the condition this one is in!

Banner, all the way. :)

Yep! Was more of a 10K to 10-miler runner in the 80s, but did manage a complete Baltimore marathon.

Thanks Fred! A surprise to me for sure. Heard of people pulling seated dimes from farm fields.

P.S. My first vehicle was a Chevy S10 (manual). A friend at work tried to teach me stick in a Beetle before I went to pick up the truck from the dealership. You can imagine my weak attempt at driving a stick the night I took ownership.

Neat! I ran an hour run invitational one time. Run for an hour on a track for most distance. I got 10 1/4 miles in, only time I was timed near a 10 mile race. :dontknow:

Ran several March of Dimes Walkathons too. :tongue3:

Thx spede777! 1838! My second pre-1860 U.S. silver in 2017.

Thx molewacker! Yep, at first glance it looked pristine. I did run it under water to remove the surface dirt. Very little dark staining as you sometimes find on silver.
