With little else available I went back to the long grass field layed down flat by the snow at the 1790's farmhouse . It's funny how it goes:laughing7: Yesterday I did not find a coin . Though I felt one could show at any minute . Today my first target was a big copper . I knew I had a non typical by the size . After that nothing else good showed . I am surprised I was able to I.D. the copper . It has a very bad Patina as it was found about 30 yards from the salt water line .it turned out to be a Prince Edward Island token from the 1850's . SELF GOVERNMENT AND FREE TRADE on the reverse . Not in good shape to say the least but one I did not expect to get checked off here in Maine . I included a pic of a non dug specimen. so you can see what it looked like before the devestation Thanks for looking and happy hunting ! MaineRelic :icon_thumleft:.

Wow those things show up in the craziest places, I've seen PEI tokens posted from many many places, now your on the list!

Great job buddy! Tried one of my sites this weekend and busted my shovel :-) glad to see you had a successful hunt. You've done well lately.

Thanks Ahab ! I thought more would have opened up after that rain But I was still limited to the tall grass facing south . Hopefully this coming weekend you wont break a shovel, MaineRelic

That's the first one I've seen. Neat.

Nice coin recovery ...I haven,t found a PEI coin one yet . I want one !!

Thought your ground would be unthawed by now being further sound that me.

But I took a drive back onto the mountains.....wow..there is still 12-24 inches of snow in the woods yet . Out front close to the water the fields are 70-80 % clear of snow now as long as the fields are open to the sun and wind.

When you say unthawed, do you mean thawed. Thawed being able to dig in and unfrozen. Unthawed to me is frozen still. Just askin.

No PEI coins today, this what it's like up the road from my house; notice all the frozen rain on the trees and more as I write this, so don't feel too bad , you're still further along than we are

Wow ..that looks nasty !!!! I seen some pics of PEI today...it showed snow drifts about 5-6 feet high...pretty sick !!!

The field we were in today was completely thawed....dig the hole and it would fill in with water almost immediately.... but move off the field into the woods 5 feet and you got 6-8 inches of snow where I live and we usually got less snow than elsewhere in the province.

Shouldn,t say that really...Yarmouth to Shelburne usually has the least amount of snow in Nova Scotia at any given time...because most southern point and on the water.

It's good to get something different for the collection.
I have quite a few different pre-confederation tokens, but not that one, but I do have a US 3 cent piece, that is just one of the things that makes this hobby so interesting.

Not melting fast enough for me....sorry for those experienceing flooding. Looks like this years "spring" season might be a short one.

Cool finds! That gun in the first picture is a toy right?
