As some of you may know I run a Secret Santa over on arrowheadolgy and have for 5 years now. It has been very popular and people have gotten some great artifacts over the years. This year my Secret Santa was from New Mexico and I got some killers. I got several nice Points, a couple Knives, some Beads, some Pottery and one with some eyes on it, a few Apache Tears, some raw material, and last but not least my favorite piece of the bunch, a really nice Cruciform made from Basalt. I was pleasantly surprised to see this in the mix.

Here's some pics. Enjoy and have a Merry Christmas.

Sumbuck. That cruciform may not be the rarest piece in that lot - can I get a closer pic of that serrated yellow arrow point?

Great bunch of artifacts. Like that cruciform. Was down in Mexico (the country) one winter with a group and a friend of mine found one maybe twice the size of the one you have. 7 of us found 80 arrowheads in 4 hours one day. don't go down there for our "health" reasons anymore.

I'll get you one Matt as soon as I can. It is very thin and I mean thin. Looks to be made on a flake.

Steve, from the images, it looks like it could be a Lott point. Lott are a variant of the Garza (often made from a flake)..and more rare than hen's teeth. I have cruciforms, but zero Lott points.

Here you go Matt. Here are some close ups of the Point you asked about. This is on regular writing paper so you can get an idea of size. It's very small and delicate. I looked at Lott Points and I think you may be right. Very cool.

I hate you.

That does look like a Lott point. They are damned hard to find complete and generally misidentified when they are. I've seen better examples, but they are almost always broken. To have any Lott complete is a great score.

Thanks for the ID Matt. I knew it was nice but had no idea of the type.

Nice work Steve. I lived in Las Cruces for 5 years and would have loved to have found a cruciform. Got to me one of the coolest artifacts out there.

Thanks Twitch. I was really surprised when I opened the box and saw the Cruciform. It really completes my New Mexico tray.

Where was yours found rock? Cruciforms are only found in a limited area of northern Mexico and parts of New Mexico. Yours look similar but I doubt it is.
