i wish i had time to detect at work, my job is usually below ground level , i build bridges and foundations, some of these bridges have had previous bridges nearby or directly under them , when we dig we open new areas to detect, some of these river crossings date way back to 1770 or older. we once unearthed a towns grinding wheel dated 1780 or so it now sits in the towns historic center.
