I had Friday off for Good Friday, and it was a good Friday for metal detecting. I had gotten permission to hunt near a Rev War officers house, at least in the cornfields near the house. After a couple hours there with nothing to show for my efforts, I decided to head to a hay field that has been very good to me over the last couple years. Last weekend we pulled two Spanish silvers out of this field, but with the grass growing, this might be the last opportunity for a while. I was working carefully between the grass clumps, and checking iffy signals when I got a decent signal that got better when I removed the large clump of grass over it. I was expecting another thin corroded copper when I saw the glint of silver in the dirt, and I knew I had another Spanish! This one has pretty good detail. This is the 11th Spanish silver I have recovered from this tavern site along with an 1803 Draped Bust dime and an 1830 half dime. As you can see I didn't dig many keepers, and signals are getting few and far between. Time for a good plowing!
