I had Friday off for Good Friday, and it was a good Friday for metal detecting. I had gotten permission to hunt near a Rev War officers house, at least in the cornfields near the house. After a couple hours there with nothing to show for my efforts, I decided to head to a hay field that has been very good to me over the last couple years. Last weekend we pulled two Spanish silvers out of this field, but with the grass growing, this might be the last opportunity for a while. I was working carefully between the grass clumps, and checking iffy signals when I got a decent signal that got better when I removed the large clump of grass over it. I was expecting another thin corroded copper when I saw the glint of silver in the dirt, and I knew I had another Spanish! This one has pretty good detail. This is the 11th Spanish silver I have recovered from this tavern site along with an 1803 Draped Bust dime and an 1830 half dime. As you can see I didn't dig many keepers, and signals are getting few and far between. Time for a good plowing!

If you're looking to pad your colonial silver totals you need to move to VA immediately ..... lol! I finally reached the 100 mark 4 years ago, and am now already up to 166 thanks to retirement and being able to get out more often. You're almost 2/3s of the way to 100 Steve, and I don't think you'll have a problem getting to that goal within a few years.

Bill, I cant wait for retirement so I can have at it all the time. But, I have 13 years to go. I don't think you will move North and I need Steve to stay to the West lol...

Steve, awesome find! There's nothing like seeing a Spanish silver in the hole, but, with a total of 61 you know that feeling very well!:occasion14: How long have you been detecting?

Again, Sweeeeet find
Don
Don. I got my first detector in 1985 and found my first Spanish silver in 1990.

No Dawg, I gave that machine to my brother who lives in Colorado. I bought that baby way back in 1994. Found a lot of stuff with it. I then went to a Fisher 1270 around the year 2000 and the F75 in 2007.

Steve,
My jaw about dropped when I read how many Spanish you and Bill have dug over the years. That is outstanding. I think I need to move up North a bit? I've only dug two so far, so I should catch you in about 100 yrs if you stop now. :laughing7:
Great finds and a big high-5.
