My Weirdest Find Ever!

No photos unfortunately, I gave my find of the day to the homeowner.

I had the day off yesterday, and wanted to do some metal detecting now that the ground was soft. When I was driving I noticed a nice house in a town center, built in 1740 according to the plaque on it. I knocked on the door and the homeowner was more than happy to let me metal detect there. I tried there for half an hour before I had to leave to pick up someone, but in that time made a couple cool finds. My weirdest find was the first thing I dug. I noticed what looked like bent silver flatware in the hole, went to clean it off. Then I noticed that there were a couple white/pink things attached to it. I found myself looking at a row of realistic teeth, attached to a strip of silver. I showed it to the homeowner, and told her she could have them. Looking back, I regret not at least getting a photo, but what's done is done. A minute later, and less than an inch deep, I found a beautiful 1886 Indian Head Cent. Apparently the place was a tavern in the 1700's, and had a lot of foot traffic over the years. I hope to go back sometime soon when I am back in the area and see if I can find anything more.

Cool find! I found a half set of choppers years ago myself at an old house site. Looked very uncomfortable to have to wear. Hope you can get back in there again.

Yep, it would have been so much more of a complete story with a few pictures.

I have to agree that a picture would have made his a better post, but old dental work is an interesting find. I have managed to find silver, stainless and gold dental work over the years. I can understand losing your keys and coins, but your TEETH! That does make for a head scratcher in my book.

Thanks! I hope to do some more door knocking on some older properties I have been eyeballing, right now is the perfect time of the year for it, because most of lawns I see are ruined from the winter, so people are less worried by the thought of having someone digging there.
