mysterious log

Fellow treasure hunters I may be posting this in the wrong forum but I need help identifying a weird looking log that i discovered in the woods looking for possible old home sites to detect, its a log which i hope got its origin from mars and the seeds hitched a ride from a meteor LOL, but i suspect it may be old cedar, i,m going to try and make a lamp out of it, it was found in michigan on the east coast of the state, thanks.

That appears to be a Diamond Willow. Its sought after by folks wanting unique walking sticks and staffs.
