Hello, I found another one of these hooks I have 3 now all at different locations all are about same size shape and design. What are these for? Also can anyone identify and date this button please. I believe it is marked Waterbury button co. Measures just over half inch in diameter. What is the best site for researching eagle buttons myself? I have searched and tried a lot of different ones and did not find them helpful.

My guess on the button is 1849 - 1875 Union General Service button. Hopefully, someone will come along who can be more specific.

The reason I love this forum is that I learn so much about my finds by reading about someone else's and seeing them solved. I have found two of the hooks and they were in my whatsit box until I read this thread. Now I have two picture hangers. Thanks to SlagMaster for posting and to vhs07 for solving.
