Native American Artifact??

While we were arrowhead hunting my bf found this red stone. We arent sure if anyone can help us identify please? It is cylinder shaped, soft in texture, red/black in color. I have lots of pics from different angles. We wondered what type of rock it maybe. It is smooth like flint. We found this in Western KY where the back water had went down in a flooded field. Any help is appreciated.

Possibly a tumbled crinoid. I used to find a lot of them in southern Indiana.

If I was an Indian and found that rock, I'd try to make a bead out of it. It sort of looks like someone attempted to drill the ends and gave up. I'd call it a natural rock that could be a bead preform that was possibly slightly worked. Gary

Looks like hematite to me, which Native Americans sometimes worked to make various things. Hematite is smooth in texture, but very hard, so when you say soft in texture, do you me smooth? If it is a soft rock, it is not hematite.
