I found this bead today at almost the exact place I found my plummet a couple of years ago. I bent down to dig a target and thought it was a clay pipe piece, but it's most def not. I've included a link to other tubular drilled beads. Any help would be appreciated.

Email from a good friend of mine that collects and searched for Native-American artifcats:

"Dave, I think this could be a prehistoric bead. If it is, it is an amazing and super rare find and I am jealous. I think the fact that it was found in the same place as a plummet and a Neville point is significant. I found another broken stone tool there, the tip of a large thick rhyolite point, very old. I can't find that book I mentioned, I will look again tomorrow. If you have time Wednesday maybe you could take it to the Robbins museum and see what they say?
"

crescent may be a gorget, they were military deorations and trade items for fur trappers.

Wish I could help you with your bead. Nice job on gettin the copper!

I see a couple similar beads in your link,
the Native American artifact forum would be of more help.
how thick is that crescent piece?
could be gorget, any other holes we can't see
I'm thinking maybe inner pocketwatch plate, the early ones were big.

Not looked at your site but to me that piece your calling a bead looks like a broke ceramic tube insulator, like these.........
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

You're right, it's from a pocket watch.

@timekiller, you may be right about the insulator. :BangHead:
