"Nazi" coin?

Hunted a St.Francis (Milwaukee) homesite bought by the adjacent business. Probably a turn of the century building. Between TimC and I we got about $2 in clad plus this 1940 nickle. The button and what I believe to be a Nazi coin dated probably 1941. Someone wanted it destroyed! Used a Garrett GTA500 found at 3" down.

Re: "Nazi" coin?

That is pretty cool. Even though I am against the whole Nazi thing, it is still cool to find the old relics.

Re: "Nazi" coin?

I suspect the damage was caused by a lawnmower.

What it used to look like....

Great work, Saturna!
Is it a Nazi coin? I do believe mine is a '41 date. I must differ on the method of destruction. It looks like the third whack with an axe on the reverse cut it in two. This is a robust coin. It is my opinion that the damage was intentional. Thanks for the coin pics! TTC

Re: "Nazi" coin?

Re: "Nazi" coin?

Yes...it is a Nazi coin...now go piss on it and bury real deep!

Re: "Nazi" coin?

Yes it is a Nazi coin, made of aluminum, 1941. I have not found many and I'm in Germany, LOL. HH, Mike

Re: "Nazi" coin?

Weird find (being cut up like that), probably somebody found it in their dad's things that he brought back from the war and tried to destroy it.  My dad sold all of the things that my grandfather brought back that would now be worth a fortune to a collector.

50 reichspfennig should be made out of aluminum

When it is a reichsmarks it would be silver.

Re: "Nazi" coin?

Very cool find

Yes it is a Nazi coin... But it is still a important piece of our insane history called the human race.

Re: "Nazi" coin?

That is remarkably clean... The ones I find over here in Germany are so destroyed it's hard to clean them up at all.

The home was standing until less than a week ago. The firm next door is waisting no time in burying the house. They will build an office building on the site. The coin could have been in the house until just recently. Dumptrucks are already unloading tons and tons of fill dirt to level the lot. A former resedent of the house tells me that there is an '84 Michigan class ring on the grounds.... gotta hurry. Thanks all for the replies. TTC

Bavaria Mike,
A moment of your time.... My coin has an "A" on the reverse. Saturna's pic has a "B". Could this be a mint mark? And if so, what locations? TTC

Re: "Nazi" coin?

G = Karlsruhe
J = Hamburg

Re: "Nazi" coin?

If you want here is a link I found just doing a search on these coins

http://www.luckylukeonline.com/Minor.html

At the top of the page it gives a history of the coins in question.

The different marks would be mint marks.

Thanks
