Day 2 at my family's homestead. Wife gets **Bucket Listers**

Went back to my family's farm today. If you all remember, this farm was in my family from sometime between 1820-1830 to 1940. See previous thread.

Within 10 minutes I had my second KG II from the farm. Oddly, we seem to be finding items much older than my family's ownership of the property. Later after cleaning the coin, I realized the date was 1733. Strangely, 1733 is the year my family arrived in the colonies to begin their lives in the "New World". This turned out to be my best find of the day making the trip well worth it.

My wife seems to be learning the Deus 2 very well. In the last half hour of the day, she found three small awesome finds in an iron patch. What I believe to be a link for cuff links, a "blow hole" button, and a cast flat button. I'm not sure what the cast button is made of, I thought pewter at first because of the way its breaking away.

I love that KG II copper, which cleaned up real nice. As for the crumbling button, perhaps that is part of a cufflink given the apparent octagonal shape? See the attached excerpt from an article I saw online some time ago. It mentions the octagonal shaped cufflinks as well as the connecting link piece you found. Congrats on the really nice finds.

It's funny you mentioned this when you did. I was just telling my wife the button could be part of the cuff link. The design on hers looks similar to the design on the image you posted.

Now you just need to find the other button to complete the cuff link😁. What a wonderful excuse to keep searching. Such a great and meaningful property you are able to detect. Good luck with future hunts.
