Need a an excuse for a day off work to detect suggestions please

Nobody can prove you're not sick!

Intestinal Flu......

Take a personal day. If they ask you why, just say it's personal. I've never had to explain why. I just wouldn't do it very often. Someday you may really need a personal day.

Do what I do tell the boss your going treasure hunting ! Works for me ! ;) ;D

Tell them you had a bad dose of the trots! They usually drop the subject.

Might try "anal glaucoma"

Can't see my a$$ showing up for work.

"Gee boss, I was cleaning my shotgun last night and I had this, like, psychotic episode that was really disturbing.

You were in it.

So I called the crisis line from the neighbors (I shot up my phone) and they said I should not come into work but should go talk to them instead.

Do you mind?"

since I'm THE BOSS, I would rather you tell me the truth, and take an R&R day, than lie to me.
If you take a day, sure I might be in a bind but, when you come back your productivity and attitude should be much better.
I don't recomend doing this on a regular basis, because you can still get fired.
If you lie to me and I find out, you can bet money you'll be looking for a new job.

You would rather seek treasure than spend a productive day at work??? I'll be back later to see if I can use one of the excuses too!

"Too well To Work ! "

"Air tight"?...Hmmm..tell them your sick at home and they try calling you....oops.
Tell them you have an appointment and they ask you to come in early or later?....

Maybe tell them you have some very personal matters that need attended to that you don't wish to discuss and leave it at that.
Very personal means you don't wish to discuss the specifics. I find metal detecting personal and don't necessarily wish to discuss it with my boss. :D
It's not lying.

I would go with the personal matter reason. No boss was born yesterday either. They know what's really going on 1/2 the time, but what can they do? Just tell them you need a day off to take care of some personal issues.

I agree...be upfront and honest....I'm a boss at work...but I don't handle the "hire and fires" (wish I did sometimes)....and I see alot of the kids one day feeling fine, laughing, goofing off, etc and then they call in SICK the next day, but the day after that, they are laughing, goofing off, etc.... :-\

I work cause I like being around folks and just for extra spending money....I don't work around my companies hours, they work around mine! I had my career....:)

I just write in the request book the days I want off and I get it....I don't get paid for it...but no biggy to me...and they also know I'm into digging in the dirt...a concept they can't grasp! ;D

And I'll have more respect for you being honest and upfront with me!!!

It's MURPHY'S LAW...it never fails...you call in saying your sick....trust me...you will get hit with a bad bug and then you won't have a pot to tinkle in :)

ask him / her for a "mental health day" to destress ( no don't tell him how you plan to "destress" because frankly its not their bussiness)--- so you can stay well adjusted and productive. ask nicely of course. - if that doesn't work -- when their not looking pop a alaki seltzer in your mouth and start foaming at the mouth. -- sure to send you home then.

If I seen someone that worked for me and they called in sick, well lets just say they would have all the time the needed after that,

;D Lost a treasure...gotta look for it!!!! ;D

Really though Be honest....saying ur ill and ur not will BITE U....Good luck!

I believe one should be honest and as someone said

I would say you know I been working real hard lately (hopefully you have) and just need a day to get away and recharge my batteries. If it was a sudden R&R day or unplanned also.

If it is planned well everyone has vacation or personal time in most employment places, I would just put in for it.

I would never be dishonest an lie for it is your reputation and integerity that is lost mostly.
