I got permission sunday afternoon at this large corner lot late 1800's home I have been eyeballing for a long time. Finally caught the homeowner and he gave me permission. what a HUGE let down...I took half a day off work because I was so excited to hunt this place, I envisioned indians and barbers, but walked away almost empty handed.......This place was obviously hunted before. I literally dug every repeatable signal, no matter what depth or what it came up as.

I dug about $3 in clad, pulltabs, can slaw.....6 wheats, a button which I am thinking is a decent one. Not sure, an ID would be great if anyone knows. And luckliy ONE silver dime to keep my streak of silver hunts going. 17 hunts in a row now.

But I am more concerned with the button as I think it is the find of the day for me.

awesome, was hoping it was civil war, don't find too many relics from there in my part of Ohio

Fantastic jbutton find, Terry!

Scoville Mfg. Co , Waterbury , near my home town was a prominent manufacturer of military buttons in its "heyday"...the Company buildings were demolished several years ago and a huge Shopping Mall is now in the former vast factory's land.

Here is a link to buttons made by Scoville.

Looks like Tice GI 228 {Albert's GI 89} , which may be CW, but many of these were used after the CW.

Nice find for sure!

Nice gold plated union button. I likes!! Tennessee Digger

Nice CW button!

The Alberts book is great and another one that is a huge help is the Backmark book by McGuinn/Bazelon - RIP Bill McGuinn

A later button may have the same front as a CW button. Sometimes the only real way to tell is the backmark.

Nice digs and a GREAT Eagle I button! Congrats!

Hopefully the day your silver streak ends a gold streak can begin? 17 in a row is impressive sir and congrats on the random civil war button find.

17 hunts is quite a Silver Streak, and a good feeling. Had a streak of 7 hunts last season, which was pretty good. My favorite type of hunting doesn't produce big numbers of silver. Come to think of it, I didn't even get a copper in 2 hours today.
