Need a good eye and opinions

Found this in a roll. Looks like it's suppose to be 1989 but under my glass it looks like a 3 instead of an 8. Pics are not that clear but opinions very welcomed.

If it were a three, it would be a wheat penny. It's an eighty sorry.

It's an 8. The obverse has several damage pocks and no doubt one of them was across the 8 as well.

I can see where it looks like the metal was scraped off the left side of the eight. Sorry it's not a '39.
