Found this in a neighborhood with homes built in the 1900-1920s. It was found at about 12 inches. I've seen similar buttons civil war ear but not exactly like this. The reverse side is corroded so that I can't make out any writing on the back. Anyone recognize it? The key piece is the cross piece on the anchor. On this button it is directly perpendicular to the anchor shaft. On most civil war buttons I've seen, it shows it at a 45 degree angle.
Thanks!
Allen

Nice find Allen...

Is the eagle standing perpendicular to the anchor? Are there 3 cannonballs under the anchor?
There are a series of Civil War Navy buttons that fit this description. Most have three cannonballs under the anchor, but there
is one without them. (Albert's button book: p102) If it had a backmark I could be more definite.
