Hey everyone,
I was detecting my front yard a few minutes ago and found a bullet in EXCELLENT condition just a few inches deep.
I went inside and cleaned it up....it has a hole or space in the bottom about 1/8 inch deep, the bullet is 1/2 inch long, it has scrapes on the side from where its been fired and it looks like it had a casing because it has crimp markings on the side of it. The nose is slightly flattened out where it hit the ground im guessing. It is a dull gray & white in color.
Is this a civil war bullet or modern like a .40 or .45?
the suspense is killin me, pls reply as soon as possible, i cant take this much longer haha

Thanks
measurements may be incorrect, never been good at math/measuring

It a modern bullet I have found one in my back yard.
see post at http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,101738.0.html
Except my did not hit any thing no flat areas on it.

Keep plugging Redneckin Rookie, your on the right track!

Modern, note the "crimp" ring around it. Theat is where the brass casing forms a sort of seal around the bullet.

It looks like a shotgun slug to me
