I was out metal detecting in my woods when i found a bullet. It doesn't have a shell attached. It's just a small, conical bullet about 1/3 of an inch long. I would greatly appreciate any help in identifying this. Below is a photo of the bullet beside a penny for sizing.

Any idea how old it is? Also, I went back out to do a bit more metal detecting and i think i found another one. It's the same size and it has the ridged groove in the same spot. The top is just a bit deformed.

Do they still use that today or if you don't, do you know when they stopped?

Nevermind. I looked it up and it appears that cannelures are used today.

Those are modern bullets, probably used on squirrels and such.

Best of luck to you sir!
