🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Need help identifying this object

It was an eyeball find and appears to be brass but lead filled in the back. I don’t know if it is part of of an old spoon or maybe a decorative design to a price of furniture. Any help would be appreciated.

Judging by its size, my guess is it's the top of a fork or spoon handle.

It does look like the finial from an old spoon or fork, but those wouldn't have a lead-filled hollow back. Are you sure about that?

I assume that the 'top' end as oriented in your picture shows signs that it has broken off something?

Forks and spoons are generally solid.

Butter knives are generally hollow handled filled with paste.
For weight, but more for strength of the handle and to keep the blade from sliding out.

It almost wants to be jewelry but shows not fastening.
Not a casual break off from a utensil.

Here's my first guess. (Which likely isn't it either.)
Thumbpiece inlay. (Top front of wrist on a gunstock.)

It could be pewter. Older pewter contained some lead.

In my opinion the front is stamped and the back is solder, just like they did to US civil war plates and buckles. pure lead would not crumble like that but solder does.

I’m pretty sure the back is lead but the front seems like brass.

lead will not crumble, the correct term is solder.
