Need help IDing! Old locket? Pendant?

It's a little less than 7/8" wide and about 1 inch tall. My first thought it was some sort of locket, but I don't know.

It must have had two pieces originally, but one piece is missing. It has a nice flower/sun design stamped into it. Age? It could be from anywhere from the early 1800s to the 20th century, so I guess I can't help much, haha. It looks to be copper.


Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The fact the piece is hollowed I'll also go with bolt cover. Otherwise could also be a keyhole cover:

Im not saying it isnt a bolt cover but have not seen any bed bolt covers smaller than 1 1/2".
Maybe it is a locket. look at bottom pic at this post.
