Need help IDing this buckle!!

Found this buckle in a field that didn't yield too much of anything to note. About 100 yards away I found a tombac button, but all of the other finds were mid-late 1900s. Could this be some kind of suspenders buckle? Any ideas on age? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Design looks like a lyre. Not sure how it was used though.

It is a lyre for holding music. Once attached to a musical instrument. There was likely a companion piece to it (the other side). Are there any traces of rust inside the curled-up part?
