Merf... I have no idea... but, can tell you the hole is suppossed to be there because I found this other bass jetton that matches yours. The seller seems to think it's from one of the German States... I found it in the cached search...

Nice find. The hole looks like its intended for a jump ring and the fact its double sided says its ment to be seen from both ends. My guess by the size its an old watch fob.

Is it coincidence that the ebay token seller is also from Northern Illinois? Two identical tokens from the same general area? I'd re-think the German connection...
