NEED YOUR HELP. Please tell me more about this cup.

I have this cup, but I don't know anything about it. Can you help me figure this out? It's 4 inches tall and 4 1/4 at the mouth. The numbers 403 are stamped into the bottom. And I know it was made before the 1940's, I don't know how much before because that when my mother remember seeing it as a kid. Please check out the picture, I appreciate any help I could get.. Thank You.

probably porcelain and i believe the 403 stamp reffers to the pattern/style,the scene looks to be a transfer(sticker type embelishment applied while wet-if so with a mag. glass you will see little dots unlike the strokes that a brush would make) to where the gold lines are painted on by hand...

thats about all i can offer...yet i could be totaly wrong

the little dots are what we call four color process
CMYK modern offset printing process, using 4 colors like your color printer

Thanks Brady,we made almost the same type stuff while i was working for syracuse china...other than that i know nothing else of china and such

Are you a printer??? Did it for many years, many different types of presses also..Just curious...
