Good morning my father has retired and wanted to pick up metal detecting but he does not know how to properly use it. We live in Florida close to Tampa, and I would love to have a knowledgeable person take the time to teach him. Please email me or call me if you can help. 863-256-7707, mabhomes@gmail.com

Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find many on here to take your money for services provided. But also some who would provide just as good service for nothing at all.

What city does your father live in....?

It's been a long while since I lived near Tampa but, I believe there are metal detecting clubs in the area that he might want to contact.

Welcome from Kansas. You did not specify what type of machine your father has. However, I AM SURE there are plenty of "HOW TO" videos on YouTube and doesn't cost you a penny.

My father is 71 and we tried the YouTube deal and he would forget certain steps. Thank you

Have you thought about detecting yourself? The two of you going out and learning not only how his detector works but also how to retrieve targets seems like a great father and son or daughter activity

Maybe look into the MD club in Tampa... Sure they could be of some help....

I second Susan from MN's suggestion.

Why the heck are you sitting on your duff when you can help your father get started? It will change his life, and your relationship with him for the better.

Hi; Mb1987; Listen to AARC. He's from your area and has a lot of experience ok. What detector does your Father use ??? PEACE:RONB

I am 75 and would love to hunt with my son if he were still alive. Take PAW out detecting.

If you lived in Kansas I'd do it free. Don't pay anyone to do that rather, look for a local metal detecting club. I would think you could find help there and your dad would have continuous assistance from more than one experience source.
