Need help with a button please

Found this button today and I have never seen one like it before but I do not know much about buttons any way. So if someone could tell me anything about it or where to research buttons I would appreciate It for sure!! It was just over 8 inches and rang up like copper my sure if that helps.

What is the Diameter of that button? What does the back look like? Cool find.

I am thinking it is not a button It has a trinity with a clover in the middle of it. My great grandmother had Brooches with this same symbol that were her fathers, who came here from Ireland.
