Need help with a pewter accoutrement that I dug in Centrsal Texas

It is made out of pewter, and looks like it would come close to being square if all of it was there.
I think it is an early Malitia plate, but have not been able to find one like it in my books.

I believe it is the "lead" filler from a "lead"-filled stamped-brass US M1851 or M1874 swordbelt plate.

For anybody here who doesn't already know:
I put quotation-marks around "lead" in the statement above because the filler metal in the back of US buckles, breastplates, boxplates etc isn't actually lead... it is a solder-like alloy consisting of lead, tin, & zinc. That is why we don't see nice Minie-ball-white lead patina on the back of the so-called "lead-filled" buckles and plates.
