not sure, but style leads me to believe sometime between war 1812 and civil war era, might be civilian but not really sure. Someone will come along who has the knowledge.

Hey Matt, look at the head and tail on the dug one. I'm thinking they might be different????? They are both similar the the "Great Seal" design but not the same either. :)

I found one like that recently and it was ID'ed as vintage civilian also. Yours is very nice and probably older than mine...
