Found this today! What is this Could this be for a hat or cover? Police?

I would guess it's some sort of pin it looks like it still has the dammit on the back. But what ever it is it's sweet looking. Good job

Thanks! Found it around a old torn down home in the woods. This house is plotted on an old map dated 1898.

slight changes have been made to the eagle over the years. on some, the top edge of the wings are concave, and other are convex. yours appears to be straight for the most part. there are slight differences in the size of the shield as changes were made also. I believe yours probably dates to the mid 1920's

I was in from 1964 to 1967 and I wore one on my dress hat that looked just like yours. I was Army, btw.

Thanks for the info all! As soon as I saw it my first thought was it was for a cover. Just did not know from what service or even police. Makes sense it would be army for the number of army service members verse the others. Just a little other info, I found a few Wheaties at this location also.
