Howdy Y'all! i have a gem/mineral that maybe someone here can help I.D.! Here's the back-story: it was found in a swimmin' hole on st.francois river(S.E.Mo.) some 30+ yrs ago, It is translucent, with a yellow hue, and heavy for its size! maybe 5-6 lbs.! it's sorta half moon shaped! about the size of 2 grapefruits! took it to jeweller awhile back and he told me, not glass!! maybe Lemon Quartz but not sure. What are the other possibilities?? (sorry! no Pix!)

Lemon Quartz is made by heating and such,,,can you do a picture?
Can you knock a small chunck off, sometimes minerals like iron can leave a "wash coating" on quartz, that makes you think the whole is colored, but only the outside has color. Baring that the piece is citrine, you still might have a nice chunck for faceting some nice gem stones.

Citrine (yellow quartz) is heated Amethyst. It can be heated by nature or by human intervention.
But without a picture there is very little to go on.
