Need ID help from Civil War Battlesite

I have a few odds and ends from that were found in same area as minie balls. Could use help determine what they are and if likely to be related to battle.

First is a brass ring about 2.5 inches or so with edges rolled over leather on the inside (black band in back picture)

id say some type of gasket, but not sure.
post in what is it and civil war forum.

maybe some kind of handle? or lifting eye? maybe used in the rigging of cannon to mule?
