Ok, I have a Prizm 2 and an Ace 150, the beach near my house is pretty shallow for the most part, about 3 feet, are either of these machines going to be worth wading out into the water with? I know there's good stuff out there, but will they find it?

I seriously doubt that either detector will operate stable enough to respond to a target because of the salt and black sand at the shore. Both are land detectors and the control box can't get wet. To safely hunt the salt water you will need a true water detector with more than one freq. like a CZ-21, Excal or a pulse detector.

guess I should have specified, it's actually a fresh water beach on Lake Ponchartrain. I just noticed I get more signals in the dry sand than I do in the wet and it got me wondering if I should even bother. It's literally knee deep to about 50 feet out from the waterline.
