Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
just got back from the desert in the Reno area. My cousin has a ranch that the local natives used from time to time as an encampment of sorts. The flakes and chips are all over the place, in some places you can't take a step without seeing them. Didn't bother to collect anything but pictures (well, mostly). The variety of materials is a lot of fun, red jasper predominates but lots of other stuff too. No need to trade or carry resource either....if you want a jasper cobble or an agate nodule all you had to do was send a kid out to bring one back, they are literally all over in fist size chunks. Had a blast like usual, here are a few in-situs and a view of what the indians were looking at as they sat and worked the stone.

the blunt arrows are used to chase the wild horses away from the house, they are all over the place.

the stone bowl is a natural but utilized rock, about the size of a basket ball ...just sitting there where it was left...

if you haven't hunted it you have no idea what's in store for you, it is magic. ..but wear a hat and take water! 100 degrees in full sun at 0% humidity and a nice breeze blowing is comfortable but deadly.

I know exactly what you mean.

Warm daytime temps and killer cold at night be prepared when you hunt the high desert . Thunder storms lightning and flash floods today .
