Hey everyone,

How have you all been as of lately. I have been pretty inactive on the forums over the past month or so. My wife just gave birth to our 3rd son last Tuesday.

He was a healthy 8 lbs boy. So I have had my hands full as of lately. Don't think that I quit hunting and posting though. Just been really busy and there is no need for trying to impress you all.

I had so many good pics I just couldn't size and choose them all. Wish I would have gotten it up alot sooner. I am really getting lazy. I think it's just because I don't have the extra time right now to do so.

But I really wanted to maybe get a i.d on 2 of the items. One is a old button with a K in the center with a reef around it. It's back marked extra quality.

Have you guys ever seen this button. Would love to know more about it. Also I found a really large metal ball in a old farm field. It was about 10 inches down.

Was this a shot from a old gun. Or is it just a large old bearing of some sort. Tried to put a marble up next to it for size comparisons.

Can't even begin to explain all the places I have been. But things haven't been to bad.

Got a really ugly I mean ugly Franklin half on easter. Looks to have been in a fire at one time. It's all melted looking. That's me holding it near a old stone wall. I am actually happy not mad like the pic depicts.

I was mad because I didn't get nothing the whole day right. I was about to leave and dug the half down about 10 to 12 inches. Wife had the ham on the table and I was out hunting still. A half will do that to ya.

I'm gonna give a break down of the coins. Sorry the pics are so crappy. I took them pretty quickly.

I got 25 wheats. 1 1916 D for a better date.
I got 2 indians 1 1892 the other a 1900.
I got 2 v nickles 1 a 1892 the other a 1911.

I got one transit token dated 1922 and a 1958 play dime.
1 nice 1893 o barber quarter found on sunday.
1 nasty 1917 merc.
3 unknown tokens.

1 super ugly 52 franklin
4 older jeffersons

And a nice non aluminum 1902 classic car token.

Hope you all like the finds. Sorry about the pics and boring write up. Hope you guys can shed some light on the items I mentioned.

HH Jer

Congrats on the healthy new boy! I knew you had a good excuse from being MIA from the forum. Oh yeah, the finds are great as usual too!
Congrats to you and your wife again on your third son! (I have 2 little girls that put a wrench in my detecting and posting too!)

Congrats on the baby boy.Graet finds as always jer.Keep it up .

What a cutie pie your little son is - just like his two older brothers, no doubt. Congrats to you and your wife! He's a cigar in his honor.

Of course, the treasure you've found is very handsome, too. Do I see MDing in your sons' futures? Better yet, get one for your wife so she can have some time to herself on occasion. :)

PS, I'm not an expert on anything, but just looking at that metal ball makes me think it's a ball bearing rather than anything else. But I'm undoubtedly wrong...again!!! LOL

First off, congrats on the new "mini me"!!
Tell mama great job too!! Gotta love those babies!!
Nice finds and photos as always Jeremy.
I always look forward to your posts here, thanks fpr sharing!

Smiles!

Hey Jer. WTG on the third boy. Two was enough for us. Guess you have to keep trying for that girl. :)

Nice finds. Barber Quarter is cool. Tokens too.

What is a button? I don't find those. :D Seriously, very few out in Ohio. They must have used plastic. :D ;D

Maybe sometime in late summer Nate, Dan, Lance, Yourself and I can get together for a hunt. We got an idea.

take care

Bob

Congrats, Jer on the Baby Boy and nice finds there.

Congrats on your finds and your newest little treasure. Cute little guy, love him with all that hair.

;) RR

First off I wanted to say Thanks to all of you guys.

Glad I didn't get abandoned since I've been gone lol.

Everything went really smooth. I actually got a police escort to the hospital. I was driving a little to fast trying to get my wife to the hospital. Anyway a cop on a bike pulled me over.

I told him what was going on. He said follow me. He got us there so quick and it was great. Got to go through red lights and stop signs. He was really nice to me and I didn't get a ticket or anything.

My kids take up alot of my time also. I only get a few hrs here and there each week to get out. So I try and go to the best spots I know of.

Mirage,

It was nice meeting you at the convention. A nice weekend hunt together would be alot of fun. I have some large area's we could go over. I know there will be finds made.

Maybe when the time is right for us all it could happen. I'd actually love to take a small group of guys into some large area's I know of. All of us clearing signals would give us a greater chance.

Take care guys,

HH Jer

Congrats on your new son. The metal marble you found looks like a grapeshot. They were inside a cannonball for shrapnel. I have one that is just like it that I found last year. I read about them in an article in eastern and western treasures. I think they were made of wood or steel. I think mine is wood but it looks exactly like yours (dull shine like steel).

Thanks alot Merlin.

I appreciate your thoughts on the metal ball. I assumed it was some type of large shot. This area goes back to the 1700's. It is pretty large. Way bigger than any civil war bullet or musket I have found.

I know it's old for sure. It has green corrosion showing through. It is a shiny dull like you said. I know it isn't lead. But did they make muskets or small cannon shots out of steel ect.

If it were a large bearing or something other than a bullet. What could it be and how did it end up in a old corn field that had a house on the site.

Here are a few more pics of some sites I have been to over the past month or so. The place were I got the metal ball my little brother pulled a 1903 S rare date barber dime.

It's the old house with the construction barrel in the pic. It is all old farm land around the house. May have been something older there at one time.

Jer, congratulations on the birth of your new son! My boy is 2, and I already bought him a child's metal detector, a Junior Scientist model, on ebay. (he's still a bit small to use it, but whenever I take him along to the beech or woods and I'm detecting, he picks up a stick and sweeps it around like he's detecting).
Anyway, you have a goldmine of a place for detecting, although I suspect the new lad is going to keep you busy for a while. Children are the greatest treasure of all.
I look forward to the day that David shows an interest and we can spend a day together detecting. My entire collection of coins, relics, jewelry, etc. is constructed with him in mind anyway. Perhaps I am being presumptious about his curiosity and interest, it's just that I remember my own love of exploration and adventure when I was a small lad.
Anyway, cheers for the pics, he's a beautifull baby.

CONGRATULATIONS
on the brand new addition to your family. You struck gold, definately a keeper ;). Congrats on your coin finds too. Thanks for sharing.

Congrat Jeremy on the healthy baby boy!

I think I know the hunt Bob is thinking about. Involves a stagecoach stop and a tavern back in the woods. We have located one of the foundations and are pretty sure where the other is.

Coming YOUR way and hunting one of your spots sounds mighty good though....even though baseball season's underway, I think I could squeeze in a weekend ;D

Again, congrats to you and the Mrs.
