New Boy Born. Old Items Found. Need some I.D Help Too.

Hey everyone,

How have you all been as of lately. I have been pretty inactive on the forums over the past month or so. My wife just gave birth to our 3rd son last Tuesday.

He was a healthy 8 lbs boy. So I have had my hands full as of lately. Don't think that I quit hunting and posting though. Just been really busy and there is no need for trying to impress you all.

I had so many good pics I just couldn't size and choose them all. Wish I would have gotten it up alot sooner. I am really getting lazy. I think it's just because I don't have the extra time right now to do so.

But I really wanted to maybe get a i.d on 2 of the items. One is a old button with a K in the center with a reef around it. It's back marked extra quality.

Have you guys ever seen this button. Would love to know more about it. Also I found a really large metal ball in a old farm field. It was about 10 inches down.

Was this a shot from a old gun. Or is it just a large old bearing of some sort. Tried to put a marble up next to it for size comparisons.

Can't even begin to explain all the places I have been. But things haven't been to bad.

Got a really ugly I mean ugly Franklin half on easter. Looks to have been in a fire at one time. It's all melted looking. That's me holding it near a old stone wall. I am actually happy not mad like the pic depicts.

I was mad because I didn't get nothing the whole day right. I was about to leave and dug the half down about 10 to 12 inches. Wife had the ham on the table and I was out hunting still. A half will do that to ya.

I'm gonna give a break down of the coins. Sorry the pics are so crappy. I took them pretty quickly.

I got 25 wheats. 1 1916 D for a better date.
I got 2 indians 1 1892 the other a 1900.
I got 2 v nickles 1 a 1892 the other a 1911.

I got one transit token dated 1922 and a 1958 play dime.
1 nice 1893 o barber quarter found on sunday.
1 nasty 1917 merc.
3 unknown tokens.

1 super ugly 52 franklin
4 older jeffersons

And a nice non aluminum 1902 classic car token.

Hope you all like the finds. Sorry about the pics and boring write up. Hope you guys can shed some light on the items I mentioned.

Everything is all well right now. Wife is feeling good again. Thank god he is here now. My wife was really asking for it on certain pregnancy days. Man I've got a few stories to tell.

3 Boys is really nice. 2 Of them hunt with me already. Hope they all will grow up to be hunters.

Kas, It was nice meeting all you guys at the convention. Wish I would have had more time to bs for awhile. Hopefully I can make next yrs hunt if it isn't to far away.

Dan, My son plays ball to right now for the rest of the summer. But maybe late in August or when it cools again in the early fall maybe we all could get a hunt together.

I know you guys have some nice sites also. I definetly got enough large sites to hold 5 or 10 guys. I could gurantee some old finds to.

DJ, that's great man. I've had my boy out since he has been 1 and a half. He needs a unit now. He is 6 and loves to go with me. He has really good eye's and can dig holes well. I'm gonna get him a ace 250.

Long time no see, Jer....and I see why. You've been pretty busy.

Congratulations on the new little hunter. I'm sure he'll be another great digger like his dad, uncle, and his brothers.

The ball looks like one that I found in an old foundation. Mine was made out of brass or copper and is a about the same size. It's one of the only things of interest that I've found INSIDE the cellarhole. I'm not sure what it was used for.

the find in the blue blanket looks like a son to me----congrats!! I seem to remember something about stone masons placing a silver coin in the base of a fireplace---some sort of a blessing to prevent the fireplace burning the house down.

Mona, Glad to hear from you. Glad you are still around and doing well. I here ya. I think you need a break from time to time. Nothing all the time is good for you.

The ball is still a mystery to me also. Never found anything this large. Can't beleive no one can put a i.d on that button. Looked civil war era to me.

But I had no luck with my searches. I did see some very similar to it though.

Seeker, Good to here from you also. Hope your back to feeling 100% again. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with this yr.

Having another nrew boy is a blessing and alot of work. Funny how you forget things even after you have had kids. It all comes right back to you though.

I feal very blessed to have 3 healthy great little boys. Tommorow is my b-day. I'll be 26. Good thing I am younge. I got the energy right now to do it.

not that coin the ben its way too young--- however there maybe older coins however set into the fireplace--- I see you by the old wall there--- look for where the fireplace of the building would be -------oddly your saying "fire place and burnt coin" seemed to jog an old story I used to heard told by my very old west virigina elders when I was a kid ---its not done in modern times of course but by old timey folks it was. to sort of bless their house ----the fire place was laid first----fire was a big danger back then and everyone used wood for heat and cooking and an improperly made fireplace/flue could kill you easily by co2 poisoning. hence the "blessing" of the hearth---
